Big First Inning Propels Fusion 02A To Victory Over So Cal Athletic
Fusion 02A knocked in five runs in the first on its way to a 9-1 victory over So Cal Athletic on Sunday in Phoenix at the Triple Crown Sports Airzona FroShow collegiate showcase tournament. The offensive onslaught by Fusion 02A was led by Jessica Seward, Maggie Tomlinson, and Summer King, all driving in runs in the inning. Fusion 02A fired up the offense in the first inning, when Seward sent the ball out of the park on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Shaneika Hollingworth earned the win for Fusion 02A. She went five innings, allowing one run on two hits, striking out eight and walking one. Fusion 02A smacked one home run on the day. Seward had a homer in the first inning. Fusion 02A totaled 12 hits. Mya Galbraith, Brooke De Jonge, and Izzy Nicholson each managed multiple hits for Fusion 02A. Galbraith led Fusion 02A with three hits in three at bats. Fraser Valley Fusion 2002A remain undefeated in twelve straight games at Triple Crown Sports tournaments in Oregon and Arizona. Fusion will put their undefeated record on the line and a chance at remaining in first place at the Arizona Froshow when they face the Arizona Suncats in Fusion's final game of the tournament.
