Fusion 2002A's two pitchers didn't allow a single hit, as Fusion defeated Islanders 2000 7-0 on Saturday at Langley Fastball Association's U19 Open Invitational Tournament. Mattisen Henrotte induced a fly out to get the last out of the game.
Fusion got on the board in the first inning. Shaneika Hollingworth singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Fusion scored three runs in the sixth inning. Fusion big bats were led by Jessica Seward and Hollingworth, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Hollingworth took the win for Fusion. She lasted five innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out three. Henrotte threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Fusion totaled 11 hits in the game. Lindsay Bell threw a gem on Friday for Fusion 2002A, allowing zero runs and besting Xtreme 2000 by a score of 6-0 Fusion tallied three runs in the fourth inning. Carlie Lawrence and Mattisen Henrotte each drove in runs during the inning. One bright spot for Xtreme was a single in the third inning. Bell was the winning pitcher for Fusion. She went five innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out seven and walking one. Kaylee Walcott, Lawrence, Shaneika Hollingworth, Izzy Nicholson, Maggie Tomlinson, and Madison MacGillivray each collected one hit to lead Fusion 2002A. Fusion captured gold at this U19 tournament last season as a U16 team in the silver bracket where they outscored their older opponents by a margin of 54 to 17 during their impressive five game winning streak. Fusion opened up scoring in the first inning. Jessica Seward singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. Fusion notched three runs in the fourth inning. The rally was led by singles by Madison MacGillivray and Seward. Lindsay Bell took the win for Fusion. She allowed four hits and one run over seven innings, striking out six. Fusion totaled 13 hits in the game. Seward, Kaylee Walcott, Brooke De Jonge, Maggie Tomlinson, and Mattisen Henrotte each managed multiple hits for Fusion .
