Fraser Valley Fusion 2002A U16 faced-off against Coquitlam Classics U19 in an exhibition game at Yorkson Park, Langley on Wednesday night. Fusion nabbed the lead late in the game in a 5-3 victory over the Classics. Fusion trailed 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning when a sacrifice bunt by Madison MacGillivray scored two runs for Fusion.
Lindsay Bell earned the win for Fusion. She lasted six innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out seven and walking zero. Rachel Brissette, Maile Johnson, Shaneika Hollingworth, Nicole Sparrow, Lindsay Bell, Brooke De Jonge, and Carlie Lawrence each collected hits to lead Fraser Valley Fusion 2002A to victory. A rare occurrence happened at Langley Fastball Association's U16A tournament, Fraser Valley Fusion 2002A dropped a decision to an opponent and found themselves playing for a bronze medal. Fusion had been riding a thirteen game undefeated streak.
Fusion took on their sister team Fraser Valley Fusion 2003A in the final game. Shaneika Hollingworth didn't allow a single run as Fusion 02A defeated Fusion 03A 2-0 on Sunday. Hollingworth allowed just one hit. while striking out 11. Brooke De Jonge led Fraser Valley Fusion 02A with two hits in two at bats. With the win, Fusion 02A took home the bronze medal. Fraser Valley Fusion 2002A faced off against White Rock Renegades 2003A on Friday at Langley Fastball Association's U16 Tournament played at Noel Booth Park.
Shaneika Hollingworth had all the right stuff on Friday for Fusion, allowing zero runs and besting White Rock Renegades by a score of 2-0 The pitching was strong on both sides. Hollingworth struck out 14, while Anna Rudetsky sat down three. A single by Kaitlyn Lawrence in the fifth inning was a positive for White Rock Renegades. Hollingworth pitched Fusion to victory. Fusion were looking for their ninth consecutive win and were playing with a short bench, missing four players. Fusion had to play catchup but managed to tie the game on a stolen base in the fifth inning.

With the 2018 season just around the corner, Fraser Valley Fusion 2002’s new coaching staff are excited about the upcoming 2018 season and look forward to challenging for a National Championship. The new look staff and Fusion roster will take to the field for exhibition games on March 24, icebreaker tournaments March 3 to April 1st at Softball City in Surrey BC and April 6 to 8th at North Delta Community Park in Delta BC. The 2018 season will see Fusion participate in eleven additional tournaments including local tournaments in BC, travel tournaments in Washington and Oregon as well as the U16A Canadian National Championships in Winnipeg Manitoba. Fraser Valley Fusion 2002 Girls Fastpitch Softball Team held its first annual Poker Night FUNdraiser on Saturday at Clayton Hall in Surrey BC. Attendees were treated to a night of great food, raffles, silent auction and a Texas Hold’em poker tournament.
Fusion 2002 is thankful for the support of our community, volunteers and sponsors who were instrumental in making this event a wonderful experience for our guests.
